And after ALL these have been tested and found nothing (because my Mac-mini has no extra hardware, or Mal-functioning hardware) and my file-system is perfect, and I have no login items at all) and I even took the liberty and run a few malware-searching facilities (MalwareBytes and friends) AND FOUND NOTHING!!!
Still, every morning My Mac looks like it auto-restarted itself, The zillion volumes on my external drive are re-mounted (whereas I dismounted them in the evening) and all my apps are closed.
What gives????
I would expect such essay to go a little beyond the most blunt tools, and at least enumerate the MECHANISMS that can cause auto-restart.
I found in the Preferences panels (Energy) a place where you can schedule auto wake-ups, sleep-cycles, restarts etc. (none)
I know that auto-updates of the OS may cause a restart - but I have them turned off.
What can be the cause?
That’s a lousy clip, or at least, not helpful for anyone who never did microscopic soldering before. At any rate, the “guide” is focusing on just showing the soldering part - but no background whatsoever. Show how the part looks before and after - how that thingy is related to the home-button at all —- something! you can’t expect anyone to use this movie, I think
Actually, the “juice” in the battery means very little to the user. What user cares more are:
1. Can I leave home without a charger, and without hoping for a charger until I come back?
2. What performance can I expect with such battery? (in simple words - Can I run latest 3d jaw-dropping 120fps game on the device without draining it in half an hour? Will I survive a 3 hour drive with navigation software running, without a charging cable?)
3. How much do I pay for this battery, in weight? After all - anyone can stick an accessory battery and have their iPhone work for 2-3 days. Only it’s… well… heavy!
So the battery parade isn’t very helpful - and as far as my own experience taught me - Androids with huge battery, still drain twice as fast as my old iPhone SE - while presenting mediocre, never-awe-inspiring performance.
I wish someone would come up with a GOOD benchmark on power and up-time on those iPhones.
Yes, I’m an iOS software developer - I KNOW apps can kill battery and Apple can’t prevent this completely.
