That's a good point.... Maybe one day there'll be an option that's clean/safe & relatively inexpensive. But by then I'll probably have sold it & upgraded to the latest/greatest MBP :-)
1. So, everything else recommended is spot-on, just the iOpener isn't adequate. Other than a heat gun, are there any other tools/doohickeys you suggest?
2. I have some experience with disassembly over the years... But on balance, it's still quite entry-level, plus, my eyesight's not as good as it was. You say your experience is quite basic, how much so, IYHO?
3. Did you succeed in dismantling & reassembling every single nook & cranny?
4. RAM & CPU are out but, aside from SSD, is there anything else that is (or might be) replaceable/upgradeable?
5. Once you have done this once, will it be way easier to do it again in the future? Just one example - now that there's better, better-positioned, & less adhesive.
