Remove the platter and check to see if the long rubber belt is still intact. If it is not, you need a new one. You should also see a brass gold colored shaft that sticks up. This is the motor shaft. When plugged in and turned on it on it should be spinning, You may have to place the arm over towards where the record would start to get it to spin. It it does not spin when turned on it is your motor and it need replaced. Chances are it is just the rubber belt.

I could be that it just needs adjusted to lower the DC offset 99% of the time when the red protection light comes on or the relay does not make a sound or turns on then off, it is a bad component.
