I've just ordered an iFlash for my iPod Classic and wondered if the hard drive in my iPod was getting bad, but this helped out a ton! I may even keep using my iPod until the drive dies. I used this guide for fixing the Z-axis pot. I agree with Paul that a full disassembly would be greatly appreciated, but with how intricate this stick is I can see why no one wants to cover a full disassembly.

One thing I would recommend is that I had much better results by removing the three screws holding the pinky trigger to the palm rest. I could not get it to pop out. However, by removing the pinky trigger housing allowed more space to work, and I could service the sled for the trigger too.

This is the second time using this guide. I even have it bookmarked. I first upgraded to 4TB and now 10TB. One thing that I have managed to do on both occasions is that I disconnected the restart button, and had a lot of trouble getting it back on. This time around a wire snapped off the button board. It was a nailbiter hoping that my soldering would do the trick. I got off lucky this time. I added a drop of CA glue to the tiny solder joints when I finished.

Take it from me: FOLLOW THIS GUIDE CAREFULLY AND DON'T DISCONNECT ANYTHING OTHER THAN WHAT IS SPECIFIED!

CAUTION: Do not apply too much torque when screwing the four 1.7mm T5 screws back in place. Finger tight is key. If you apply too much torque, you can break the head clean off. Remember, if it feels tight, it is.
