If anyone has this issue, your battery door/ latch cover is broken and needs to be replaced. You do have to unscrew the camera housing and sort of take it apart in order to reach the latch. 5 screws outside the camera carefully remove the cover and once inside, remove the 2 black screws holding the metal tray. Tilt LCD out of the way and lift the tray a bit so that you can unhook the latch. Remember to take pictures when taking it apart just in case.
