The vibrate motor is at the top right-hand corner of the iPhone frame (when looking at the back of the iPhone). It is secured by 2 screws which hold the two springy connectors down on the pads of the volume button/headphone jack flex assembly. This has NO impact on your home button under any circumstance. The home button connects to the charging dock connector, which connects directly to the motherboard. Your issue does not make sense. Is there any other information you can provide to help us answer your question?
Mehr erfahrenI see this issue a lot, and usually it's tied in with another issue where the volume keys on the side of the iPhone will not adjust the volume from the home screen. The volume icon will show up on the screen when you push the buttons but it won't adjust, but during phone calls or when playing back a voice recording, the volume buttons work fine. This issue also causes music not to play from the speaker. The issue is ALWAYS the dock-connector in my experience. Either clean it or replace it if that doesn't work. *Note: If you want to test to see if this is the issue, remove the back of the iPhone and while it is still powered on, remove the 2 screws securing the dock connector flex, and unsnap it from motherboard. Now test the volume keys from the home screen. If it works now, you know your issue lies in the dock connector.
Mehr erfahrenI recommend testing your SIM card in a friend's phone to make sure that the problem isn't with the card itself, or with your account on the provider side of things. If you do this and confirm that your hardware is at fault, it will be very difficult to troubleshoot without some knowledge of electronics and antennas in general. First, check a guide to diassemble properly. This model should have a plastic antenna near the bottom of the phone, and two shiny, gold, springy contacts on the motherboard which make contact with the underside of the antenna inside the phone. Cleaning and/or resoldering usually will do the trick. This type of antenna rarely needs to be replaced because it is essentially just a piece of wire printed onto a piece of plastic. Poor connection is usually the culprit. Also keep in mind, sometimes software glitches can result in "No Service" indications but it is uncommon in your particular model. If you can do a software update via WiFi and you have the same issue afterward, you can...
Mehr erfahrenI have replaced LCD/Digitizer assemblies on 4th gen iPod Touch's over 300 times in the past two years and it took a while to get it down to a science. If the glass was not shattered too badly to begin with, I use heat to carefully remove the glass and preserve the original adhesive, clean with alcohol and toothbrush when you are done picking out the shards, and be sure to keep track of which screws go in which positions. Install new screen and reassemble. If I do the above method and still have that top left corner raising on its own, I disassemble the iPod and remove any extra thickness wherever I can. (1) Remove the foam/adhesive from beneath the WiFi antenna (it's still sticky after ^^) (2) Remove the bushing under the top screw of the volume keys (3) Remove the transparent 2-sided tape from beneath the metal plate that raises it off of the motherboard where the volume flex connects. (4) Remove the black tape on the top of the volume flex screws. (5) Ensure the metal casing is not dented on the back,...
Mehr erfahrenIf the screen was completely white, or completely black, or only had some arrangement of lines through it, I would suspect a damaged flex cable through the hinge. Since you mentioned "a blodge of black", I'm assuming you mean there is no real geometry to this figure. Broken LCD's normally will still light up but will have black areas near the point where it was broken (from excessive pressure, etc.) and the vertical/horizontal lines tie in with that as well. It sounds to me like you are in the market for a new LCD my friend. It is unlikely that it is a motherboard or connection issue. I hope this helps, cheers!
Mehr erfahrenThe liquid is actually not between the glass and LCD, as a matter of fact it is between the layers of the LCD itself. The LCD has several layers with different properties that allow the image to display. The last layer in the back of an LCD is typically a reflector, or silver sheet of material that keeps light inside the LCD. If you were to access and remove it, you will find dried water stains. The next layers are a sequence of transparent and reflective polarized sheets similar to the first one. Chances are they all have dried liquid stains right up until you get to the last layer before hitting the physical liquid crystal portion. I have personally disassembled LCDs and cleaned them with 99% alcohol and microfibre cloth, it CAN be done, but you need sterile gloves, a dust free room, and lots of time and patience. The trick is knowing when you get to the last layer, because if you go too deep you will damage the display itself. It's usually easier to just replace the screen if the price is within reason....
Mehr erfahrenThe back cover itself does have an impact on reception, as it acts as a ground plane for the motherboard. I have seen iPhone 4's and 4S' alike with serious reception issues simply from not having a good back cover properly installed. It is not common, most of the time the phone should work normally with no back cover on it whatsoever, but I just wanted to mention that it is a possibility. Also if you have access to a microscope and multimeter, check continuity of the inductors (small rectangular 2-pin component that is essential a piece of plastic wrapped in wire) near the antenna connector. If one were knocked loose due to impact, it will also cause this issue.
