Ok maybe I'm just old school (I learned how to solder with lead and iron at a young age) -- but what's with "glue"? I'm seeing it used in major electronics now and I'm HOPING they have proper soldered connections underneath. You can't just use hot glue because plastic is an insulator and if it gets between the two contacts then well -- you don't have anymore contact. Electronics these days however are so tiny it would be hard to use old school soldering techniques. You'd most likely have to have a micro-soldering station to pull off the job and those aren't cheap to come by. In the end it really is less frustrating to just buy a new one.
Yeah I'm guessing Apple is using modular CPUs to save on components. New iMac line? Same thing -- just swap out the CPU! I guess they came to a point where they were losing a lot of cash in repairs.
