Since I was a kid, I have been taking things apart to get a closer look at their inner workings, especially mechanical and electronic devices.
I have a background in media design and a Bachelor of Engineering in Audio-Visual Media.
I joined iFixit Europe in 2014 as a customer service representative, supported our European event management by planning and attending several maker fairs and repair cafés.
Since starting the European content team in 2016, I am once again focusing on taking things apart by documenting device disassemblies for teardowns and repair guides.

Antwort auf „Specs on the "button covers" (tactile domes)?”Hi Jeff, we have a guide in the making for replacing the D-pad. It should be live soon. There you’ll be able to see the build of the D-pad and can experiment with different “mods” to it. In the meantime you could bend the metal spring that pushes the pad back up to your liking or you might want to add a thin extra layer between the pad and its rubber part so the connectors on the rubber part make contact with less travel. Good luck with finding the sweet spot and think about sharing any findings for others to learn and improve their gamepad from.

Antwort auf „The number keys on my numeric panel stop working randomly, help?”Did you check the side panel if it connects properly (magnets lock in place) or tried to clean the contacts and the touching surfaces between the module and the mouse body (See hints in the troubleshooting wiki) Razer Naga Trinity Troubleshooting
Antwort auf „Broken screen Fitbit Sense”Hi, the display can be replaced. It ’s the first thing out when opening the watch. Although it is quite cumbersome to get it open.
Antwort auf „Water proofing after repair”As long as the rubber gasket is undamaged the watch should remain its water resistance. Check out our opening procedure for that.
Antwort auf „What's the RAM and The Battery like?”Hi Akshat, the iPhone 12 mini will most like feature 4 GB of RAM and the battery is expected to offer 2227 mAh. For the exact and definitive specs and differences to the other models you might want to check out our Teardown which is coming soon ;)
Antwort auf „My watch doesn't keep charge”I suppose you made sure that there are no plastic covers over the charger or debris which could interrupt the charging. I also guess that you checked that the watch is actually charging when placed on the charger. That said you could try and force restart the watch (once while off the charger and once while on the charger) to see if that solves the issue.

Antwort auf „Where is the smart cover sensor on the phone?”Hi THBE, not sure where the magnet on the smart cover sits. You might want to check the position of the magnet (using a paper clip maybe) and then look for any sort of sensor in the phone at the respective position. I can imagine that maybe the small extension of the loudspeaker unit (bottom left next to the USB charging board) that extends to the side might carry an extra sensor. There are also two magnets on the left rear edge of the phone assembly when opened (right edge when looking at it from the back with the back cover off), but that would be inverse to how a smart cover usually works.
Antwort auf „Temperature warning message 95°”This could indicate a malfunctioning bowl or internal a malfunction on the circuitry. The message information from Thermomix indicates to contact customer care if “… the lid does not open OR the bowl feels cold to the touch and the LED is red”. Try using a friend’s bowl if possible to see if this one works. To get the malfunctioning bowl out you might need to manually open the locking handles by turning the TM5 off, opening the rear cover and loosening the lock handles. The TM5 Teardown might come in handy here although it is not a repair guide—proceed with caution.
