When the charging cord is plugged in, the cell phone fails to charge.
Check to make sure the power cord is correctly plugged into the charging jack on the phone. Check that the cord is plugged into the wall adapter. Check for any damage to the cord. If the charger is plugged in correctly, and there is damage to the cord (the cord looks frayed, has had water damage, etc.), then the power cord is defective. Consider purchasing a new power cord.
If the power cord is plugged into the phone but the phone is not charging then make sure the outlet that the cord is plugged into has power. Plug another device into the outlet. If power is not being supplied to the outlet, then there is an electrical problem with the outlet. If other devices work when plugged into the outlet, then the power cord for the phone is defective and should be replaced. Plug the phone into another outlet. If power is not being supplied through the second outlet, then the power cord for the phone is defective and should be replaced.
If the phone has been plugged in and charges, but does not turn on without being plugged in, then the battery is defective. Consider purchasing a new battery and follow the battery replacement guide instructions.
After charging the phone to 100%, the phone doesn’t hold its charge and the battery life is depleted rapidly.
If an app is used but not properly exited out of then it will continue running in the background and deplete battery life quicker. Navigate to the phone’s Setting > Applications > Application Manager > Running Applications, and close any unnecessary running applications. Consider turning the phone’s brightness down and turning off its Wi-Fi and Bluetooth as these will all decrease the phone’s battery life.
If the phone’s internal storage is full, the battery life may not last as long. Remove as many unnecessary pictures, music, apps etc. to free up more storage space. Consider purchasing an external SD card for the phone.
If the battery is old then it may lose its ability to hold a charge properly. If the battery has gotten wet or overheated then it is defective. Consider purchasing a new battery and follow the battery replacement guide instructions.
With the phone turned on, the touch screen display does not function when touched.
If there is a phone case on your device, remove the case and try to use the screen. If the screen functions then the case may fit too tightly causing excessive pressure to the screen. Consider replacing the case.
If the phone is on, but the touch screen does not function when touched, remove the battery, wait 30 seconds, then reinsert the battery and turn the phone back on.
If removal and reinsertion of the battery did not work then the device must be restored to factory settings. Follow the “master reset with hardware keys” instructions on this website to perform the device reset. If resetting the device does not work, consider purchasing a new screen and follow the display screen replacement guide.
When pressed, the power button does not wake up or put to sleep the device, and/or the volume buttons do not change the phone’s volume.
If there is a phone case on your device, remove the case and try to use the buttons. If the buttons function then there is a problem with the case and it should be replaced.
If the volume buttons stop responding, hold down the power button for 10 seconds and then power on again. If the power button is not responding, remove the battery, wait 30 seconds, then reinsert the battery and try powering the phone back on. If the buttons are still unresponsive, consider purchasing new buttons and follow the button replacement guide.
There is no sound coming from the speakers from music, ringtones, alarms, and other apps.
If sound should be coming from the phone but no sound is heard then the volume may be turned off. Depress the volume up key (located on the top right side of the phone) to turn the volume up.
If there are headphones inserted into the headphone jack (on the top of the phone) then the external speakers will not emit sound. Unplug headphones or auxiliary cord if there is one plugged in.
If the volume is turned up and there is nothing in the headphone jack, but there still is no sound coming from the speaker, then the speaker is damaged and will need to be replaced. Consider purchasing a new speaker and follow the speaker replacement guide.
