Black Screen

“The laptop will not display the screen and there is only a black screen on display.”

Brightness Turned Down

The brightness on the laptop might be turned all the way down to the lowest setting (in dimness). Go to the brightness button on your keyboard and press the key that increases brightness until the screen is lit. Continue increasing the brightness level until desired level of brightness.

Faulty Graphic Processing Unit

If you increase the brightness level as bright as possible and the screen is still dark try the graphic processing unit (GPU) may be the problem. The GPU is a chip that controls the display functions in the laptop. The GPU is responsible for the display of graphics, images, and animations on the laptop. If the laptop is not displaying any image at all and only a black screen consider replacing the GPU. Follow instructions on this guide to learn how to replace the GPU.

Dead Pixels and Blue Screen

Physical damage to the monitor/screen

If your computer has this issue then you may have to replace the screen. Go to the manufacturer's website to find the exact model of the screen for your laptop. Click here for the guide on how to replace your screen.

Faulty Motherboard

If your computer has this issue you may have a faulty motherboard and need to replace it. In order to do this, you have to find the exact model of your laptop’s motherboard. To do this, left click on “My Computer”, then go to “Properties”. In the window that just popped up, you can find the exact model of your motherboard. You can then proceed to order a replacement.

Computer Will Not Turn On

Uncharged Battery

If your laptop is not turning on make sure the battery is fully charged.

Faulty Power Adapter

If your laptop is charging and still not turning on, make sure the connection between your laptop and power adapter is secure.

RAM Error

If your laptop makes a beeping sound and does not boot the operating system or shuts itself down during memory intensive tasks, this entails a faulty RAM card or not enough RAM. You will have to install or replace RAM card.

Hard Drive Error

While you may have a hard drive in your laptop, it could be faulty. In order to fix this issue, you will need a copy of the operating system’s DVD. You have to boot up to the DVD, then choose the repair option, and you have to let it run. If the aforementioned step does not solve your problem, you may need to get a replacement for your hard drive.

No wireless connection

Faulty Modem

If your laptop has this problem, the modem may not be turned on. Check your modem to make sure all the proper lights are turned on

Faulty Antenna

If your laptop has the aforementioned problem, you may have a faulty or a broken wireless antenna. Wireless antenna is responsible for your laptop’s ability to connect to the internet. Replacing it will solve the problem if you do not have any other software related issues.
