You're out of colored ink but you still want to print in black and white

You have sent a document to the printer, but it will not print. If connected to the printer, your computer may have an alert indicating low levels of colored ink. Hold down the resume/cancel button. The resume/cancel button is the smaller button, below the power button, on the front-right side of the printer. Press it for 10 seconds. You can now print, using just the black ink.

The alarm lamp, to the left of the resume/cancel button, will flash orange four times to indicate the ink supply is low. You'll need to replace the ink cartridges. To do so, please refer to this device's ink cartridge replacement guide.

If your document text is distorted or messy in its appearance, you may have a faulty printhead. This can often be solved by removing the printhead to clean it. Or perhaps your printhead may need to be replaced altogether. To replace or remove the printhead, please refer to this device's guide on printhead replacement.

This device is not a wireless printer

If the printer is not available as an option in the print dialogue box, your USB connection may be faulty. Because this device is not wireless, be sure to connect your computer to the printer by using a USB cord. Be sure the cord is compatible with your computer and operating system. Your computer and operating system must support a Hi-Speed USB connection.

You send something to the printer and nothing happens. This could be caused by a variety of problems.

If your documents are not printing, or your document's text appears to be illegible, you may be out of ink. The alarm lamp, to the left of the resume/cancel button, will flash orange four times to indicate that your ink supply is low. Perhaps you cannot send a document to the printer via the USB cord. Ensure you have the correct cable (a three pronged symbol ending with a triangle, square, and circle is usually present on the cord) and make sure it is securely plugged in to the printer and computer.

If your document will not send to the printer, you may have a different printer selected int he printing dialog box. Paper is caught in the rollers.

If your document has failed to print, and you hear unusual mechanical sounds and/or the sound of crunching paper, you have likely run into a paper jam. Gently pull the paper out by pulling it through the rear tray or the output tray in the front. Press the resume/cancel button. To load new paper, you should open the cassette and insert paper into it. To remove the cassette, please refer to this device's cassette replacement guide.
