HKC P774A
Released November 2015, can be identified by model number P774A
Device Won't Turn On
Device does visually or audibly respond to power commands.
Dead Battery
The device may simply require a charge. HKC does not supply chargers with the charger, although any mini usb will work. If the device does not respond after it is connected to a functional mini usb then the battery will need to be replaced.
Unresponsive Power Button
Dirt or grime may be present in the power button location. Cleaning the area may solve this problem. Power button may have lost physical connection to the mother board.
Charger Not Functioning
The device is functional but does not begin to charge once connected to a charger. A new charger will need to be purchased (not supplied by HKC). The device requires a mini usb.
Dysfunctional Motherboard
If previous problems have been ruled out, the most likely cause of error is a faulty motherboard. With technical skill, the motherboard may be repaired but it is recommended that it simply be replaced.
Display Malfunction
The device shows signs of being turned on (sounds heard when booting up), but the screen remains black. This section also includes the device freezing.
Not Powered On
The device may not be displaying anything, because it is simply not powered on. This problem may be addressed, by holding down on the power button until the device turns on.
Tablet Needs to be Restarted
The tablet may be frozen and the screen unresponsive to touch. To solve this, the restart button on the bottom of the device should be pushed and held until the device restarts.
LCD Screen Disconnected
The LCD is connected to the motherboard via a wire on the inside of the device. The disconnection of this will result in the screen not displaying anything. This problem can only be fixed, by physically reconnecting the LCD display to the motherboard. The wire connecting the two may damaged, which will require replacement.
Faulty Display
If all of the previously mentioned problems were addressed, the likely cause to a malfunctioning display is a faulty display. The LCD screen of this device is known to stop working after 6-12 months. If this happens, the LCD screen need to be replaced.
Tablet Won't Connect to WiFi
Device will not establish a wireless internet connection
WiFi Not Enabled
It is possible in the settings of the device the WiFi is not turned on, so it would not be receiving a connection to the possible networks available. It is also a possibility that the device’s airplane mode is activated so it would not connect to any sort of internet.
Exterior Router/ Modem Issue
If the WiFi is still not working and it is turned on and the airplane mode is off, it is possible that there is no exterior WiFi available to connect to and/or the router is turned off. It is also possible that the WiFi is secured and requires a password to be actively used. Another possibility is that the WiFi is simply not actively working, there is a connection error and the device cannot connect due to the WiFi being “down," a probable cause to this is the cables and cords at the router are not properly connected.
Unresponsive Screen
The screen may display information, however it is unresponsive to touch commands.
Dysfunctional Digitizer
If the screen is unresponsive, but not visibly cracked the digitizer is most likely the cause of the unresponsiveness. The digitizer is the glass screen that is in front of the LCD. This must be replaced, as it can’t be repaired easily.
Cracked Screen
It is possible the screen is unresponsive due the tape and all cracks on the screen. These cracks would affect the touch sensitivity to the point where when trying to select a certain area, it would select elsewhere. The tape would happen the screen’s ability to sense the contact with the screen, because it is another layer to go through and is not a touch responsive screen protector.
