Device charges but does not turn on
When the power button is pushed, the device does not power on.
If the battery is bad, the notebook will not react to the power button being pushed. The display will remain black and none of the LED lights will glow. There will also be no sounds coming from the laptop, such as the fan turning on. In this case, the battery may need to be replaced.
Battery in Shipping Mode
In this case, the LED lights on the laptop will blink and the laptop may blink, but the screen remains black. To resolve this issue, you can turn off the laptop, then connect the AC power. Allow the battery to charge for at least thirty minutes while the computer is off, then push the power button to start the computer again.
Blank Screen Upon Start Up
The battery is charged and the computer powers up, but the screen remains black.
If the screen immediately blacks outs after computer starts up, or if computer resets randomly while in use, this could be a sign that the RAM needs replacing. To remove the RAM, press on the tiny levers on either side and pull out. You will need to test each RAM module on its own to determine which one is faulty.
A solution may be to unplug the computer and remove the battery. Hold the power button down for at least 60 seconds, and try to power up the computer. Plug the power back in and replace the battery and try again. This restarts the computer and may solve the issue.
Unscrew the two screws shown in the picture and remove the top of this compartment. What you see is the RAM. Push the lever on the sides to the wall of the compartment, you should hear click. The RAM will now be able to be pulled out with ease.
Frequent shut downs
The computer shuts down while in use for no apparent reason.
It is possible that the fan is either not in good condition or is not clean. A faulty fan or dirty fan can cause the laptop to shut down without warning.
Hard Drive Installed Incorrectly
The laptop will shut down without warning frequently if the hard drive is installed incorrectly. The best solution is to reinstall the hard drive in order for the shut downs to persist.
If a laptop comes with a damaged or failed battery this could explain the frequent shut downs. A battery that has been used for a long period of time may need to be replaced to avoid unwarranted shut downs. It is also possible for the battery to be damaged if the laptop has been dropped or damaged. A failed or damaged battery may be the cause for the frequent shut downs.
Not Connecting to WiFi
When trying to connect to the internet, laptop is unable to connect.
Replacing WiFi Card
Sometimes the WiFi card is defective in the laptop. This will cause loss of internet connection and will need to be replaced.
Loose WiFi Card
Occasionally, the WiFi card may come loose due to rough handling or may be inappropriately placed. Simply checking the placement of the Wifi card may be a quick solution.
