Garbled or No Audio Coming From Loudspeaker

None of the sound files or videos have their audio coming through the loudspeaker (located on the bottom of the phone) clearly.

Volume

If there's low-volume or no audio heard through the loudspeaker or through earphones/headphones, then the media volume on the phone may be set to low. Use the volume buttons on the back of the phone (the two buttons above and below the power button) to change the volume.

Loudspeaker Obstruction

If there's low-volume or no audio being heard through the loudspeaker but the audio is completely fine when listened through earphones/headphones, then there may be dirt or dust obstructing the loudspeaker. Dab a cotton swab in isopropyl alcohol and wipe down where the sound exits the loudspeaker (on the bottom of the phone) and clear any obstructions.

Corrupted or Low Quality Audio File

If there's no audio or distorted audio being emitted from the loudspeaker and the same is heard through earphones/headphones, then the audio file may be corrupted or is of low quality. Delete the audio file and re-download it from a trusted source.

Malfunctioning Loudspeaker

If your music or other audio emitted from the phone's loudspeaker is distorted but is completely fine when listened through headphones/earphones, then the phone’s loudspeaker may need to be replaced. Follow this guide to replace the loudspeaker.

Boot Loop

The phone never reaches the main menu or password screen and keeps booting up.

Factory Reset

If the LG V10 is stuck in a boot loop, then it may need a factory reset. Note that a factory reset wipes the user's data from the device, so see the "Faulty Motherboard" subsection for further troubleshooting while conserving your data.

To perform a factory reset, shut off the phone. Once the phone is off, hold the power and volume down button down. Once the LG logo appears, release then re-hold the power button while continuing to hold the volume down button. When "Factory data reset" appears, use the volume down button to highlight "Yes". Press the power button to confirm. When prompted to "Erase all user data and restore default settings," use the volume down button to highlight "Yes". Press the power button to reset the device.

Faulty Motherboard

If your phone abruptly shuts off on its own and continuously boots up to the logo screen then shuts off again, then it may be overheating. If it goes into a boot loop, then the motherboard may need to be replaced. To replace the motherboard, follow this guide.

Failure to Detect Fingerprint for Security

The fingerprint sensor on the back of the phone isn't reading in your fingerprint.

Malfunctioning Fingerprint Sensor

The LG V10 uses a fingerprint sensor as an extra security measure for the user. If you’ve tried setting it up but it won’t properly pick up your fingerprint, then the fingerprint sensor may need to be replaced. Follow this guide to replace the fingerprint sensor.

Unable to Change Display’s Brightness or Screen is Unresponsive to Touch

The LG V10 is difficult or impossible to navigate due to a faulty LCD or digitizer.

Malfunctioning LCD

If the display is too dim or when adjusting the brightness there is no change visually, then the LCD may need to be replaced. The LCD and digitizer are built together for this phone, so replacing the LCD means replacing the digitizer as well.

Malfunctioning Digitizer

The LG V10's display may be working fine upon boot-up, but if you are unable to navigate anywhere on your phone and there’s no response to your touch, then the digitizer may need to be replaced. The LCD and digitizer are built together for this phone, so replacing the digitizer means replacing the LCD as well.

Black Screen When Trying to Use the Camera or the Camera Won’t Start Up

Unable to take photos because the display shows a black screen or the camera application is unable to start up.

Low Battery

If the LG V10's battery is low on charge, the phone may be disallowing you from using the camera. Charge the phone and try using the camera again.

Camera Application Hanging

If you're unable to open the camera application, it may have crashed but is still open. Close the camera application by pressing the square button at the bottom-right and swiping the app off the screen. Try reopening the camera application.

Broken Front Camera

When taking a selfie, if the displays appears as a black screen even in a well-lit room, then the front camera is malfunctioning and may need to be replaced. Follow this guide to replace the dual front cameras.

Broken Back Camera

Showing the same symptoms as a faulty front camera, if you’re faced with a black screen when trying to use the camera on the back of your phone, then that camera may need to be replaced.

Short Battery Life

The LG V10's battery life quickly drains after being charged to 100%.

Faulty Charger or USB Cord

Folding the charger’s cord when putting it away could damage the wire inside the insulation or the insulation itself. If your phone isn’t receiving a charge and replacing the battery didn’t work, then the USB cord or the charger itself may need to be replaced.

Battery Not Holding Its Charge

If your LG V10 is being charged for a couple hours but quickly drains even when it’s not being used, for example the battery percentage goes from 100% to 95% within ten minutes of being unplugged, then the battery’s life has been depleted and may need to be replaced. Visual symptoms would also be corrosion around the battery. Follow this guide to replace the battery.

Improper Connection

The LG V10's charging port or charging cable may have dirt or dust in them which will obstruct the connection and disallow the device from charging properly. To prevent this, dab a cotton swab in isopropyl alcohol and wipe the the cable's connector or the phone's charging port so that the swab will remove the obstruction.

Phone Won’t Start Up

The LG V10 won't boot up whatsoever.

Not Receiving Power/Battery Not Charging

The phone may not be receiving power so it could be a dead battery that may need to be replaced or the charger isn’t working. See the “Short Battery Life” troubleshooting section.

Faulty Motherboard

If replacing the charger and battery didn’t show any signs of the LG V10 receiving power, then the motherboard may need to be replaced. Follow this guide to replace the motherboard.

If replacing the charger or battery worked but the phone goes into a boot loop, then see the “Boot Loop” section.
