Blue Stripes and Flickers on the Screen
When the laptop is turned on, the screen has blue stripes or the screen flickers appear continuously or occasionally.
Battery Connection Failure
If the screen is flickering, there may be a failure in battery connection. First, turn off the laptop. Remove the battery from the laptop and clean the battery plugin. Then, place the battery back and turn on the laptop. If the issue happens again, consider replacing the battery with a new battery.
Software Upgrade Conflict.
The screen resolution the laptop used in Windows 8 may conflict with the new settings in Windows 10. To solve this, reinstall the laptop with the latest version of Windows 10.
Faulty or Loose Cables
If the screen has blue stripes or is flickering; faulty or loose cables may be the reason. Check that the video and monitor cable is screwed in tightly. If the issue still happens, consider replacing the video and monitor cable with a new one.
Laptop will not Power On
The laptop does not have any sign of power or will turn on but not respond.
Power Adapter Failure
First, check again your laptop power adapter is plugged in. Then check the indicator light in the power adapter is turn on. If the power adapter is plugged in but the indicator light is not working working, the power adapter may be broken. In this case, consider buying a new power adapter.
Battery Defective
If the laptop turned on when the power adapter is plugged in, but the laptop will turn off when the power adapter is unplugged then the laptop battery may be defective. Consider replacing the battery with a new battery. You can follow this guide to replace a new battery here.
No Audio While Headphones are Plugged In
When headphones are plugged in there isn’t any audio coming through the headphones.
Faulty Audio Cord
The first thing that should be considered is that the headphones or other audio devices plugged into the audio jack may be faulty. Check to make sure there are no faulty or damaged wires in the headphones, such as an exposed or bent wire. A good check would be to try another set of headphones or audio playback device with a standard audio jack.
Settings
Make sure that in your sound manager settings that your speakers are enabled and the default device for playback. This setting can be found by right clicking the speaker symbol on the taskbar and selecting playback devices. This setting allows the computer to automatically transfer audio to the audio jack when a device is plugged in.
Faulty Driver
If you are experiencing audio issues for both headphones and for the internal speakers there may be in a faulty driver for the sound card of the sound card itself. This may be a symptom of sound drivers that are out of date and need to be updated, in this case go to your computers drivers and make sure that they are up to date. A good fix to avoid this in the future is to make sure that you set the Windows Update settings to allow the computer to download and install recommended updates for all drivers.
Damaged Headphone Port
If you aren’t experiencing audio issues with the internal speakers and there is no audio coming from headphones when plugged in there may be an issue with the port/board that is in charge of regulating and connecting headphones and it may need to be replaced. A key symptom of this issue is that you are also having issues with the display port and USB port on the right hand side of the laptop, as they are integrated in the same board. Another Key symptom of such an issue is that there is no prompt on screen letting you know that you have plugged in a device to the audio jack. Micro HDMI Port Not Working
The computer does not recognize that a cable is being plugged into the micro HDMI port.
Micro HDMI Port Failure
Ensure that the micro HDMI cable is fully plugged in correctly to the computer and on the other side of the cable. If it does not respond, make sure nothing is stuck inside either port preventing a complete connection. If the computer still does not recognize a cable being plugged in, remove the cable and clean the ports to remove any dust.
Ripped/Broken Cord
Inspect the cord to make sure it is not ripped or broken throughout the whole length of the cable. If it has been damaged at any point including at the end of the cable, consider buying a new cable.
Laptop Experiencing Lag
The laptop is responding slower than usual, choppy frame rates, and delay between input and what happens on the screen
Your Computer was Running for a Long Time Without Reboot
If your laptop is processing slower than usual, then consider restarting your device. Often, certain software installations and updates require a restart. To do this select the taskbar, click the power symbol once and select restart.
Your Version of Windows or Browser is Out of Date
Your laptop could be experiencing issues if you do not have the latest Windows updates. Click the windows logo on your taskbar and click settings. Choose “Updates & Security” and click check for updates.
Too Many Background Programs
To begin, remove any startup programs that automatically start each time the computer boot. First, click the windows logo on your taskbar, and click settings. Choose “Apps” and click the startup option. From here, you can select which startup apps you prefer to run, and which you want to turn off.
Not Enough Free Hard Drive Space
Hard drive space is the amount of space that can be written to and is not in use. This space is used to store files, and data but can swap file space for memory required for programs to operate.
To free up space on your hard drive, first click the windows logo on your taskbar, and click settings. Choose system and select the storage option.
From here, you can clear up junk files using storage sense, remove temporary files by clicking “Free up space now”, or manually deleting files by clicking “This PC.”
