Shark Apex Zero M ZS360 Troubleshooting
This page will help you fix and diagnose common issues and defects with the Shark Apex Corded Stick Vac.
The unit has low or no suction.
Either very little suction is being produced by the unit, or none at all. Faulty power cord
Inspect the plug prongs for looseness and damage to the power cord. Try plugging it to another outlet.
Dust cup full
There will be a release button near the bottom of the dust cap, hold it over a trash bag, open the cup, and let the debris and dust fall.
Filter cover full
Take off the portable vacuum's top filter cover. Remove the pre-motor felt and foam filters, tap them clean over a garbage pail, and set them aside.
Brush Roll garage blocked
Slide both of the floor nozzle's release buttons away from you and toward the back of the nozzle to open the brush roll garage. Then, remove the lid. Rotate the nozzle's neck back and examine the apertures for obstructions. Place the three tabs on top of the lid into the three slots in the nozzle to close the brush roll garage. Then, firmly press down on both sides of the lid until it snaps shut.
Turns off on its own
The unit shuts the power off on its own.
Vacuum overheat
There is a motor protective thermostat installed in the vacuum cleaner. Your vacuum's thermostat will automatically shut it off if it overheats for any reason. Give the vacuum a full hour to cool.
Faulty power cord
Inspect the plug prongs for looseness and damage to the power cord. Try plugging it to another outlet.
Blockage in the nozzle
Try removing the wand from the floor nozzle and inspect and remove any blockages. Pro tip: drop a coin through one end and check if it falls straight through the other.
Burning smell
The vacuum is making a burning smell.
Faulty wires
If you are experiencing a burning smell from your device a common method to fix this is to turn off your vacuum and inspect your wires to ensure none of your wires are damaged or exposed.
Unusual noise
The vacuum is making a strange noise.
Dust holder clogged
If your vacuum is making a strange noise, you should immediately turn your device off and remove the dust holder from the vacuum and dump out all of the dust and trash that you have picked up from the floor. After dumping the dust out make sure that there is no dust clogging and vents or airways in the dust holder. Wheels squeaking
The vacuum wheels are squeaking.
Wheels are dirty
If your vacuum has squeaky wheels, place your vacuum on the floor with the wheels facing up then inspect the wheels for debris or any hairs that might be stuck in the wheels. Once you remove the debris and hairs rotate your wheels to check if the noise stopped.
