Trouble retrieving satellite signal
The Garmin Nuvi 255W is having trouble finding a proper signal.
If you are having trouble obtaining a satellite signal, make sure your Nüvi is out of parking garages and away from tall buildings and tress. Then remain stationary for several minutes.
Broken Power button
The power button is not functioning properly.

Unable to charge device
The device is unable to recharge.

Unable to charge the device in a vehicle
First, make sure your car is turned on while you are trying to charge your nüvi. The device will not charge if the vehicle is not supplying power. Also, make sure your device is out of direct sunlight as it will only charge between 32 and 113 degrees F. If your device still won't charge check the fuse in the power cable.
The speaker of the Garmin Nuvi 255W does not produce desired sounds.

Clearing used data for the device
This will clear all data from the device.
To clear all the data on your nüvi hold your finger on the lower-right corner fo the nüvi screen while it is turning on. Keep your finger pressed until the message appears. touch "Yes" to clear all user data.
Unresponsive touch screen of the device
The touch screen of the Garmin Nuvi 255W is unresponsive.
Clean the touch screen
If the touch screen is unresponsive make sure that is clean. Use a soft, clean, lint-free cloth. Use water, isopropyl alcohol, or eyeglass cleaner, if needed. Apply the liquid to the cloth, and then gently wipe the touch screen.

Computer cannot detect the device
The Garmin Nuvi 255W cannot connect to the computer.
Using the USB cable
To get your computer to detect your nüvi, first, unplug the USB cable from your computer. Then, turn off the nüvi. Lastly, plug the USB cable into the USB port on your computer and into the nüvi. The nüvi should automatically turn on and go into USB mass storage mode. Ensure your nüvi is connected to a USB port and not a USB hub.
