Buttons not working

The buttons at the bottom of the phone screen do not press down.

 Broken screen

The screen may need to be replaced if the buttons are not functional. A broken screen can either be cracked or stuck on one image/screen. You can purchase a new screen from a trusted source and replace the screen. Please visit our screen replacement guide for more instructions.

The phone is not charged/powered on

For buttons to work, the phone needs to be powered on. Make sure the phone is charged first before using the buttons.

Dust or Debris lodges under/near the buttons.

You can try to clean out any dirt by blowing air near or around the buttons. If this doesn’t work you can remove the screen, clean around the buttons on the inside, and then put the screen back on. Please visit our replacement guide on how to remove a screen for detailed instructions.

Will not charge.

The charging port does not charge the phone when it is plugged in.

Faulty charging port/cable

The charging port or cable may need to be replaced. There could be an issue inside the device or accessory. When you’ve factored out all other problems, the charging port might be the one to blame! The charging port could have a bent pin or damage to an inner component. Please visit our charging port replacement guide for more information on how to replace it.

Charger is broken

The charger wire must not be severed at any point internally so it can have electricity run through it. If you think your charging wire is the problem, you can try to maneuver the wire to see if it will charge at a different angle. If not, it might just be best to invest in a new charging wire.

Dirty Charging Port

Parts inside of the charging port in the phone must not be broken or out of place. Look inside the port with a light to see if any pieces are hanging out or looks out of place. If your charging port has any type of debris inside of it, it may be affecting its ability to charge. The solution to this is to simply just clean it out! You can opt to blow air inside of the charging port to get any debris out.

Power Source Problem.

The problem could be very simple, it could simply just be the power source you’re plugged into! Try plugging your charging wire into a different outlet or computer and see if that does the trick!

The phone is overheating.

If your phone is too hot, it won’t charge. You can see if the phone is too hot by simply touching it with your hand, it really shouldn’t be warmer than room temperature. If you think this might be the case, simply place your phone in a shaded cool area, wait for it to cool down, and try charging again when it is cooled.

Distorted audio over speakers.

The audio coming from the phone is altered in a way that doesn’t sound correct.

The speakers may be blocked

Move whatever may be blocking it. In some cases, your phone case can block the audio from coming out correctly. You can buy smartphone speaker cleaning toolkits off the internet, or sometimes a simple toothbrush or small paintbrush can be used to help dust off or unclog your speakers. You can also try blowing air into the speakers to get any stubborn dust or dirt.

 Dirty/clogged speakers

The speakers can have a build-up of dust and dirt, make sure they are clean so audio can flow normally. You can buy smartphone speaker cleaning toolkits off the internet, or sometimes a simple toothbrush or small paintbrush can be used to help dust off or unclog your speakers. You can also try blowing air into the speakers to get any stubborn dust or dirt.

The speakers have been blown out.

If you tend to play music loudly from your phone, you may have accidentally blown out the speakers, and that’s why your audio sounds distorted. If this is the case, you may need to replace your speakers Please see our speaker replacement guide to see how to replace your speakers!

Distorted and frozen camera.

The camera can be extremely lagging, have extremely blurry quality, or is just a black screen.

The camera may be cracked.

If the camera is cracked, you will most likely be able to see a small fracture in the actual glass of the camera. If your camera image is looking distorted, look at the back camera and see if you can notice any cracks. Remember that the smallest of cracks can affect the camera quality. If you think this is the reason for your distorted images, please visit our replacement guide on how to replace the camera on your ZTE Maven 3.

The camera resolution needs to be changed.

Go into the camera app and click on the setting icon in the upper left corner. Select the resolution and choose any of the three options provided. Higher numbers mean higher resolutions.

The phone is overheating.

If your camera is acting delayed and is blurry, the phone might be overheating. Oftentimes you can feel if the phone is hot when it’s in your hand, if you think this might be the case, make sure that your phone is in a shaded cool area, and leave it alone until it is completely cooled before accessing the camera again.

Insufficient Storage

If your phone is almost at capacity for its storage, it may affect the performance of apps, the camera being one of them! Try deleting some unnecessary applications off your phone. If you have too many pictures, transfer your pictures onto a USB drive by connecting your phone to a computer, then delete them off the phone to free up storage. You can also buy a new SIM card for the phone to add storage. Please see our guide for replacing the SIM card.

Short battery life.

The phone dies very quickly and can not hold a charge.

Adjust settings to optimize battery life.

There are many factors to optimizing the battery life of your phone. Before considering serious issues, make sure you are taking all necessary steps to avoid unnecessary battery usage. You can turn on battery saver mode (settings > battery > battery saver mode > flip switch), adjust the screen brightness (swipe down from the notification bar > select the “auto box” or adjust screen brightness to desired likeness), decrease the screen time out (settings > display > sleep > select), and turn off unused services (turn off Bluetooth, wifi, apps, and location services when not in use).

Faulty Charging Port

If the phone is unable to charge fully or at all, this could be a factor in a shortened battery life. You may need to replace the wire you are trying to charge the phone with and clean out the charging port. If this still does not solve the charging issue, you will need to replace the charging port. Please visit our replacement guide on how to replace your charging port.

Faulty Battery

If you have tried all other methods to improve the phone’s battery life, and it still is not holding a charge and acting sluggish, you will most likely need to replace the battery to make your phone work at optimized performance again. Please visit our replacement guide on how to replace the battery.
