ZTE Quest Not Powering On
The ZTE Quest will not power on when the power button is pressed.
Faulty Charger
Ensure that the charger is fully pressed into both a working outlet as well as the charging port of the phone. If possible, try charging another device that has a micro-USB charging port to determine whether the charger needs to be replaced.
Faulty Battery
Try charging the ZTE Quest with a charger that you know works. If the phone is still not charging, its battery may need to be replaced.
Can't Connect to the Internet
The ZTE Quest will not open the internet or any web-based applications.
Disabled Wi-Fi
You may need to enable Wi-FI in your settings. Open Settings -> Wi-Fi and confirm that there are available Wi-Fi networks for you to connect to. If airplane mode is enabled, you will NOT be able to connect to a network. Disable airplane mode by holding down the power button and touching Airplane mode.
Faulty Motherboard
To ensure whether the issue is with the device or the router, use another available phone or laptop and try connecting to the same Wi-Fi network. If the other device connects without a problem, you may need to replace the motherboard.
Router/Modem Issues
If you have access to the router/modem, reset both devices by turning them both off for at least 30 seconds and then powering them back on. If the network problem persists, you may have to contact your service provider.
Phone Freezes/Crashes Unexpectedly
Without warning, the ZTE Quest will shut off or freeze.
Faulty Battery Connections
Ensure that your device has been powered off. Failure to do so could result in electric shock! Remove the back panel of the ZTE Quest. Take out the battery and use a clean cloth or q-tip to wipe the battery terminals. Place the battery back and reseal the back panel before attempting to turn on your phone.
Factory Reset
Only perform these steps as a last resort. This will erase all the data on your phone! Start by turning off your device. Hold down both volume buttons until the phone vibrates. A list of commands will appear on the screen and you will need to use the volume buttons to scroll down to the Wipe Data/Factory Reset command. Use the power button to select it. Another list of commands will be displayed and you will need to select Reboot System Now. You will then have to reactivate your service and complete the setup for your phone.
ZTE Quest Won't Download Applications or Save Pictures
The ZTE Quest won't download new applications and new pictures taken are not being saved.
No Internet Connection
You may not be connected to the internet if applications aren't being downloaded. Verify that there is a valid Wi-Fi network to connect to and that you are connected to it.
Storage at Full Capacity
Open Settings -> Storage and scroll to the Internal Storage section. If your phone is out of available space you will need to delete some applications, photos, or videos. Navigate back to the Settings menu and open Apps. From here you can uninstall any unnecessary or unused applications. In order to delete photos or videos from your phone, go to the phone's Gallery and touch the unwanted pictures.
No Audio
Pressing the volume buttons on the ZTE Quest does not change audio levels.
Volume is Turned Off
Open Settings -> Sound and touch Volumes. From here you can move the sliders to adjust the volume levels for multiple functions of your phone. If the buttons themselves are not working properly, then you may need to replace your volume buttons.
Connected to Bluetooth
If no sound is outputting from your ZTE Quest, you may be connected to a Bluetooth device. Open Settings -> Bluetooth and touch the on/off slider to turn Bluetooth on or off. Otherwise, scroll down to the Paired Devices section and touch the paired device to disconnect.

Anytime I try to make a call with my phone, zte n817, it drops the call before it can be put thru. The Mute button is dark, which means it is in use. I can’t get the button to light up. I need some help here, I cannot make a phone call and that’s what I have the phone for. I have taken the battery out, done everything I could possibly imagine that might help the phone, but nothing happened. So I sit without a phone to call on. Thank you Martie Martin….please get back to me somehow…
