Keyboard/trackpad not working after removing top case.

Hello,

While my original intent was to attempt to dislodge a broken headphone piece from a friend's headphone jack (though I realized at the end that I couldn't -- so the whole thing was a bit foolish to try), I have now found that the computer does load and run just fine, it just won't read any input from the keyboard or mouse. This includes boot options like safe boot, etc.

I re-opened it up to make sure that I had properly re-attached the ribbon connecting the bottom to the top; I also tried to make sure the four slots lined up at the edge with the cd drive.

I can't find any more detail on the official how-to here (I followed steps 1-12 on MacBook Core 2 Duo Left I/O Frame Replacement), so I'm here now.

I'm pretty much desperate and out of ideas at this point (and rather despondent that this happened while working on a friends computer, of all things). I would greatly appreciate any pointers :).

Thanks!

- Alex

EDIT: I should also mention that the power button does indeed work -- I had already turned it on and off when I first wrote this; it's just 6am and these things are not fully computing :).

That the power button works points away from the ribbon cable connection to the logic board - unless you bent/scrapped or other damaged part of that ribbon cable. Check the ribbon connector to the keyboard/trackpad (back side of top case)
