Problem with charging after replacing battery cells

Hi, i have a problem with my Toshiba battery, my old battery died, it gave me only 20 minutes of working time, wether i was writing some text in word or watching a youtube video, so i cracked the battery open and did change the old cells for brand new ones, and no they or not some chinese crap cells, they are cells from Sanyo and i know that Sanyo is a very reliable company! The battery pack just works fine, i get about 3 to 4 hours out of it which is nice enough for me, the wiring is correctly done and i didn't damage anything of the circuit bord inside the battery, also i know how to solder things together so that isn't the problem! But windows doesn't see the actual battery percentage, its still counting the old battery time, even though the percentage in windows reaches 0, the laptop just keeps going on battery power until it suddenly dies after a hour or 2, and when i plug it back in, it says it needs only 30 minutes to a full charge, and when it reaches a 100 percent, the laptops keep charging the battery until it reaches its actual charging level! This is very annoying because when i am doing something important on battery, it can die on my whenever it reaches the actual 0 percentage, way beyond the windows percentage, my laptop is a Toshiba Satellite Pro S500-14L, with 8gb of DDR3 ram, intel HD graphics running windows 10 enterprise, i did trie everything possible to resolve the problem, let it die on battery, remove the battery and power cord, hold down the power button for 20 seconds, putting the battery back into the laptop and let it charge the battery all the way up (did this a couple of times, same results), did a uninstall of the Microsoft Battery Drivers in Device Manager, let the battery charged out of the laptop for 24 hours, even did a full reinstall of windows! . . . I am getting tired of this problem and i hope that someone can hand me a good solution because i did searched the web plenty of times and getting sick of it, even did search google for a battery firmware reset tool or something, but with no succes! Help me out folks, please!

I don't k now if I'd ever attempt to change the cells in a battery, rather I'd just bin it and get a new battery.

The problem probably is that the circuit board in the battery is telling windows how much is left in it, and windows is displaying that, but because you've changed the cells and they might not be the same mAh as the original battery and windows don't know how much power is in the battery.

Well it sure is much cheaper than buying a new one and it seems to work, there is got to be a way to reset the value of the circuit board in the battery, the original battery had something like 5000mAh and the replacement cells are 4400mAh so it doesnt exceed the original capacity, hoping that someone has the right solution for me :-)

You must charge all cell in external charger first, after replace, and some battery board need "reset"... you must make, notebook connect to charger, put battery, zurn on and from positive main cell make jumper on few second to positive main on battery connector.... tested on toshiba portege z830...

Get a battery analyzer software. Here is a review of 5 different ones: http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/5-tools-ana...

Check what the analyzer software says about your total capacity, current capacity, etc., and compare this to what Windows is reporting? If Windows is reporting 0% and the analyzer software is reporting 50%, then you know the problem lies with the Windows driver, and you can rely on the analyzer software to indicate true battery life. However, if Windows and the analyzer are in agreement, then @thethirdtwin is correct, and the circuit board of the battery doesn't know how to report the power of the new cells. That will take troubleshooting the battery circuit itself and any firmware on it.

Since the time i did change the battery cells, every piece of software i tried said i had about 10.000mAh out of the 54.000mAh of its capacity left. But now, the software and windows are saying that i have 16.533mAh of charging capacity, i just drained the battery to a complete dead point, and recharge in back to a complete full charge, so the capacity went up, but its still not what the actual capacity is, so i think i am gonna keep doing this untill i get the full capacity of the battery! Thank you all for the responses!

Sorry for reviving the post, but do you have any updates?

I read somewhere that the battery chip has some programming that doesn't allow cell change. It is to ensure that the manufacturer keeps selling spare ones at a high price. I changed and the battery refused to charge when mounted on laptop though I had charged the cells externally before soldering them together

The answer is in the way the battery operates. The circuit board has a microprocessor and memory. It is remembering the old set of cells. You may be able to reset it by getting the datasheet for the processor and grounding the reset pin for a couple of seconds. Look carefully for numbers/letters on the IC and google it “[part number] datasheet”.

I have the same problem only with a Dell Inspirion ...Replaced paralled cells with high capacity single cells. 3000 mah. Got this message but they run the laptop for 2 1/2 hours. The percentage amount drops rapidly but then stays on 10% then down to 6% for over an hour. Tried all the cycle fixes and uninstall battery controller routines. Difficult soldering without scraping the old nickle (?) and the new battery contacts with a knife.
