how do you remove and place the hinge guard?

If you checkout the ifixit tear down of the C202 in step 8 they remove the display from the rest of the case and it looks like that plastic cover is still attached. I have seen these often as just ‘wrap-around’ pieces that can be carefully popped off of short partial shafts on either side. You should be able to flip that piece back and forth with the display detached if need be.
