flex cables finally arrived but no air slice yet so made a start replacing the the flex cables first.
Ist dies eine gute Frage?

You’ll need a solder mask to prep the pads to be soldered using paste solder, then using a hot air station being careful to monitor the heat as you don’t want to damage the LCD panel.

i have all that, just need the air slice tools to remove the panel, will just use 138c solder paste and iron to remove the flex cables from the panel as thats what i did with the board
@tech_ni - I find this tool iFlex Opening Tool and a variable hot air gun is all I need to take the display off. But you do need to be careful as you don’t want to dig too far as you can damaged things just underneath.
@danj that similar tool comes in like a set of 4 from china for less than 11 quid, i have 1 but i would never use it on a mac
@tech_ni - I only use it when taking the displays apart. Mostly I stick with the older 2015 and older ones as you can replace the panels alone. The 2016 onwards are much harder and time consuming I mostly stick with replacing the backlight cable which tends to fail. The LCD cables are not easy to align and if you pull you can sever the solder pads off of the glass.
@danj customer doesnt want to spend the money on a replacement buddy even tho a replacement from ali is like 70-80£ im charging him 70 as its a learning curve and either way i wont be out much if i mess it up
