@brannonphillips it'll depend on how perfect you want thios to be. Also, keep in mind, do not paint over anything that i being utilized as ground.
It will help if we can see the parts you are thinking of painting and how badly corroded those are. Some of this will also depend on your own resources.
You can wire brush and sand those pieces if the rusting is just minor and readily accessible. If the pats are really "grubby" and corroded, I use Citric Acid (sounds wicked but it's not ;-) hang the parts in there over night. (It is non-toxic and biodegradable). Then rinse them off with some water and a quick sanding with a slightly abrasive pad will clean them nicely.
Now, if you are really wanting to remove the rust out of every nook and cranny, use electrolysis. Another spooky and wicked sounding way, but it's not dangerous nor difficult to achieve. I use this method to remove rust from old tools and machine parts. A setup like this will definitely work and should be well within anyone's budget(It is non-toxic and biodegradable)
Once all the rust is removed you could use something like Rustoleums automotive enamel Rattle Can (spray can) paint or you can use Eastwoods air spray clearcoat series for a nice finish. Use some nice coat of primer first and a tack clothes to clean of the fine dust. Once the paint is dry, it pretty much acts as an insulation and will not interfere with anything on your Xbox. Of course, you are going to do all of that in well ventilated area and not inside your house/room etc.

Hi Brannon! What a interesting question! Well, I’am not that very experienced with paints or so, but I would take paint that can resist heat and is electronic friendly. A spray paint for metal is what I would use! But, maybe someone who have more experience with this, could have a better solution!
