The Chevrolet Malibu was first created in 1964 as a trim for the Chevrolet Chevelle. It was not until 1978 that the Chevrolet Malibu became its own model. However, after the fourth generation (1978-1983) the production of Chevrolet Malibu ceased from 1984-1996. The Malibu was later rejuvenated as the fifth generation seen in these guides.
