Background and Identification
Home theater and compact audio systems seek to reproduce the movie theater experience at home using consumer electronics video and audio equipment. Modern home cinema setups typically include a large flat-screen high resolution television, a DVD or Blu-ray player, and a stereo speaker system.
Home audio systems include shelf stereos, surround sound receivers, and accessory equipment to enhance standard television speakers. Surround sound receivers are the most popular form of home audio systems.
Home theater package typically consist of a combination DVD or Blu-ray player, a multichannel amplifier (with a surround sound decoder, a radio tuner, and other features), speaker wires, connection cables, a remote control, a set of five or more surround sound speakers, and a low-frequency subwoofer.
Referred to as Home Theater in a Box (HTIB), these packages are advertised to consumers as a convenient way to enjoy the home cinema’s surround sound experience, even if they do not know how each individual item works or connects together in the larger system. This product is great for consumers with little to no knowledge about electronics because all the needed components for the home theater come in a package.
