Asus Q200E Troubleshooting

- Keyboard does not work
- Computer will not turn on
- Computer will not connect to the internet
- Touchscreen does not respond
Certain or all keys do not respond.
There may be something stuck under the keys. To fix this, follow this guide to remove the necessary keys and make sure that the area underneath is clean. Then, just snap the keys back into place.
The keyboard could not be unresponsive due to a driver issue. Go to Control Panel, click System and Security, click System, click on Device Manager, and then click on the arrow by Keyboards. Now you will see an item called Keyboard device filter right click on it and choose uninstall. Finally, agree to restart the computer. Your computer should reinstall the drivers when it's back on.
The laptop doesn't appear to power up.
Make sure the power cord is fully plugged into the outlet, power brick, and laptop. If the computer still does not power on, the power supply might be damaged and needs to be replaced. If the power cord and brick are not damaged, it might be a damaged outlet.
Sometimes devices like USB flash drives, an attached mouse, SD card, etc. can interfere with Windows. So, remove all external devices and attempt to start the computer.
The laptop could be in a shutdown state because of the battery overheating. Remove the battery and let it sit out for 5 minutes; then reinsert the battery and attempt to power on the device. In addition, it may also be necessary to replace your battery, as dying batteries tend to generate more heat. You can replace the battery by following this guide.
The laptop may be able to power on but no image is displaying on the screen. You can easily tell if the laptop is actually on by listening for sounds from the fan or even feeling slight vibrations from it. If you can here the sounds from the laptops fan, this could mean you need the screen replaced.
Any internal component of the laptop might be damaged and needs of replacement. You may take off the back panel by using this guide, and attempt to spot a physically damaged component but the issue is not always something visible.
Computer is unable to connect to the Internet.
Windows comes with troubleshooting/diagnostic tools built into the operating system. Always run this first to try to repair issues. To do this follow these steps: Go to Control Panel, click Network and Internet, click Network and Sharing Center, click Troubleshoot Problems, click Internet Connections, follow the instructions. If this does not solve the problem, one of the following problems listed below might be the cause of the poor internet connection.
Check your router and Ethernet cables to ensure that they are fully plugged in everywhere they need to be. For a router this would mean the actual router and power outlet. For an Ethernet cable, it needs to be plugged into the laptop and telephone line.
Open Control Panel, click Network and Internet, click Internet Options, click on the Connections tab, click on LAN settings, deselect proxy server for your LAN setting, check Automatically detect settings, click OK twice.
If using static IPs, ensure that everyone in the home has a different IP address.
The issue could simply be something with your modem/router or that your internet is down. Restarting your modem/router or contacting your internet service provider could help with these issues.
This is very rare, but if you have been able to connect to the internet in the past and recently have been unable to do so, you could have downloaded a virus or program that is interfering with internet connectivity. Try to restore the computer to a recent backup.
The touchscreen has trouble responding or does not respond at all.
Dirt on the screen could be messing with the sensors. Simply wiping the screen with a microfiber cloth or cleaning it with a screen cleaner could fix the issue.
Just restarting the computer could be the solution.
The calibration of the touchscreen could be off. To fix this, bring out the menu on the right side of the screen and type "calibrate" into the search bar. Click Calibrate the screen for pen or touch input. If the reset button is available then click it, otherwise click calibrate and follow the instructions.
This could be an issue with the drivers. To fix this bring out the menu on the right side of the screen and type "device manager" into the search bar. Click Device Manager, click the arrow next to Human Interface Devices to expand it, right click on the touch screen item which is most likely named "HID-compliant touch screen". If the option enable appears then click it, otherwise click Update Driver Software.
