Open “Start,” and click Settings>Update & Security. Click the “Troubleshoot” tab and “Blue Screen.” Click “Run the troubleshooter” and review the resulting solutions—follow any on-screen instructions.
Freezing and running slowly
A computer locking up or freezing is often caused by software related issues.
Too many applications are running simultaneously
Check to see how many unused applications are open. If there is more than one unused application, right click on the app icon and click “Close Window.”
Too many background applications are open
Sometimes applications might be running in the background without you seeing it. Press CTRL+ALT+DEL and click “Task Master” and “More Details”. Under “Background Processes” click on the applications that are not being used, and click “End Task”.
Not enough available RAM
Turn the laptop off and reboot it. When you get to your operating system desktop, press CTRL+ALT+DEL , click “Task Master” and then “More Details”. In the tab element, click “Startup” and disable any unnecessary startup applications.
Faulty or dead RAM stick(s)

WiFi not connecting
A lot of things that can go wrong when using a wireless connection and it can be frustrating when the connection is slow, intermittently drops, or cannot connect.
Router not connected
Ensure that your network router and modem are properly connected and plugged in to an active outlet. Flashing and/or orange lights may indicate a service related outage. Contact your internet service provider to confirm that a stable connection is reaching your modem.
Missing driver
First, download and reinstall the Chipset driver with this link:
When this has completed, restart the notebook. When windows have fully reloaded, download and install the Realtek WLAN Driver at this link.
Disabled wireless antenna
The Compaq Presario CQ62-215dx can't connect to a wireless network unless it has a functioning wireless network adapter. If this wireless card is disabled, the antenna won't detect Wi-Fi signals broadcasted from the router. To re-enable the wireless communication, slide the wireless switch to enable the wireless antenna. It is located on the front of the laptop and to the right of the indicator lights. Then, go to the “Control Panel,” find “Network and Internet,” “Network and Sharing Center,” and “Change Adapter Settings.” Right-click "Wireless Network Connection" and select "Enable" if available to turn on the Wi-Fi adapter on the HP PC.
Distorted audio coming from speakers
If your laptop speakers are making scratchy sounds or if your audio does not play at all, this can signify a number of software or hardware issues.
Outdated drivers due to operating system update(s)
Sometimes when a computer is changed from Vista to Windows 7, speakers and headsets will not work because the drivers specific to one operating system has not transferred to the new operating system. You need to Install the latest sound driver updates. This can be found in the “Control Panel” under “Device Manager” and “Sounds.” Look for “HD Audio” and write down the description, make, and model. Next, double click on the “Drivers” tab and write down the version. Click “Update Drivers.”
After it has certified the drivers, right click on it and select “Uninstall and reboot.” This will rebuild the driver stack and configure the hardware connected correctly. Finally, reboot the laptop after each driver installation.
Computer beeps while typing
If your laptop sometimes beeps while you are typing, filter keys, toggle keys, and/or sticky keys are active. The Toggle Keys can emit a beep when any keys are pressed. The Sticky Keys can emit a beep when the Ctrl, Alt, Shift, and Lock keys are pressed.
Active filter, toggle or sticky keys
Filter keys cause Windows to suppress or discard keystrokes sent too fast, or keystrokes sent simultaneously. To deactivate, find "Ease Of Access" under Control Panel and make sure the "Filter Keys" box is unchecked. Toggle keys and sticky keys cause the keyboard to emit a beep or audible indicator when any locked keys are pressed. To unlock, press the "Shift" key for Five (5) consecutive times then uncheck “Sticky keys” in the box that appears.
Fan running too hot
When temperatures inside the laptop case rise to excessive amounts, the risk of damaging important internal components increases greatly.
The fan blades are clogged with dust.
Computers become dirty as a natural part of running. Fans suck dust, pet hair, and other contaminants into the case, where it will become a problem sooner or later. To begin, unplug your laptop from any power source and place it upside-down. Remove the bottom panel of your laptop with a screwdriver. Hold the fan in place with your finger, so that it does not rotate. Clean the surface with a clean cloth, gently rubbing dust and dirt away from the center. Wipe the vents on the inside of the laptop with the cloth, as well as any other open area where dust has accumulated. Gently blow into the fan to dislodge dust that may have fallen into the fan. Repeat the process until the fan is clean. When finished, replace the laptop's bottom cover.
The fan needs to be replaced
To remove the fan, the keyboard must be removed as well as other components such as the display. Here is a suitable guide: HP Compaq C700 Fan Replacement
Faulty fan header on the motherboard
If the fan is working but it still overheats, then suspect another problem like the heat sink is not attached to the CPU properly, needs to be removed, cleaned, new thermal paste applied or reinstalled. Here is a guide that can help: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/bp...
