Mixer Stops During Operation
While the KitchenAid is running the mixer stops, possibly with a loud grinding noise
Faulty Gear
Loose or faulty gear causes a seizure that stops operation and may need to be replaced. This could result from a faulty worm gear or bevel gear. If it's the worm gear follow our worm gear replacement guide. If it's the bevel gear follow our bevel gear replacement guide.
Not Enough Grease
Lack of grease causes the gears to grind to a halt. The gear housing needs to be opened, and food-grade grease needs to be applied.
Grease Falls into Mixing Bowl
Lubricating grease falls from the gear housing into the mixing bowl, usually while mixing a batch
Note: Grease will not harm food. "The grease is food grade and is approved for incidental contact with food prepared in the mixer, although it may discolor light colored frostings or mashed potatoes."
Separated Grease
Grease on the gears has separated due to high heat or lack of use. The housing must be taken apart and the bad grease should be cleaned out and replaced with new grease. Follow our bevel gear replacement guide to see how to access the gears. Once you have access to the gears, you can replace the grease.
Mixer will not turn on
When attempting to start the device it will not start
Outlet Plug
Faulty outlet plug does not provide power to motor. Follow our power cord replacement guide to see how to replace it.
Wiring
Wires leading to switch are unplugged, loose, or damaged. Open the device and check for damaged wires. Follow our speed selector switch replacement guide to see how the wires are suppose to look.
Operates Only at Certain Speeds
The mixer will only run at certain speeds and will either not work or work poorly at a specific speed setting.
Faulty Wiring
Wires leading to switch are unplugged, loose, or damaged and may need to be plugged in or replaced.
Faulty Switchbox
Speed-Selector is broken and in need of replacement. Follow our speed selctor replacement guide for quick and easy instructions on how to do so.
Difficulty Placing Beater into Spindle
The beater will not go into the spindle or gets stuck in the spindle and is hard to get out
Follow this link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZE88Frx2... which describes how to properly remove the beater.

My model is 6000 pro. It has everything fine, grease, gears and outlet plug. Just stop and restart after several seconds. What could cause that?

Please note: I am not an Authorized or Certified Kitchenaid Mixer Repair Person. I am an Electrical Engineer
If we eliminate the gears/grease/power outlet plug as possible problems, there remains one remaining part (maybe two parts). I’ve personally seen issues with the Speed Control Circuit Board. The Speed Control Circuit Board is the only circuit board under the top cover of the Kitchenaid Stand Mixer 600 Pro Series. There are a few reasons for this board to act up. One common issue, would be this circuit board over time would accumulate gunk in the area where the mixer’s speed selector is located. This gunk is usually residual amounts of whatever has been prepared with the mixer. Another issue with this circuit board may actually be a bad electrical component(s) on the circuit board. Replacing this circuit board may be the best option; Part #: KitchenAid 9706648 Control Assembly. I hope this is helpful.

We have had this mixer for over 5 years and it is so loud. I can’t hear the TV in the living room while my wife is using this mixer in the kitchen. We had the 4.5 qt before and never had a problem with noise.
When we first bought it, we had ordered it online. We thought it was broken so we went to Costco and bought another but it made the same sound out of the box so we took it back.
I find it strange that no one else has a problem with the noise because it is louder than my power drills and if you have to mix anything for any duration of time, it is literally painful to listen to. I have to leave the room. If you buy a power tool that is this loud, they recommend in the instructions that you wear hearing protection.
What is up with this and why is there no fix?

I have this same problem. I just bought the 600 pro and the first time I used it I had this loud squeaking sound. Did you ever figure out how to fix it?
Thank you, Lisa

No fix yet. I took it apart and regressed everything but no change.
