The USB-C port is not responding to or misreading connections
If you are getting no response or an error message when using the port, the device driver may be corrupt. Search for . Navigate to “Automatic Driver Update” and click “Start Scan.” Follow the instructions to update your drivers, and then restart the computer.
The keyboard is unresponsive, lagging, sticking, or reading false inputs.
Keys are dirty
Try using an air duster and brush to clean your keyboard. Any loose crumbs or dust might be preventing the keys from functioning properly. If this does not fix the problem, try removing the keys. Carefully pry up on the top of the key until it pops out of place. Then, pull the key out of place and clean the underside of the key with a dry cloth or air duster. If neither of these processes work, you might have to replace the keyboard.
Cover won’t go back on
The bottom cover of the laptop is disconnected or loose.
Cover had been pushed out of place
Even though the screws may be tight, the clips that hold the cover onto the laptop may be misaligned. Take the screws out of the cover and correctly align the clips with the bottom of the laptop. Gently push the cover into the laptop until it snaps into place. Tighten the screws back into their places and be careful not to over tighten.
The screws are loose and will not tighten.
Check to see if the loose screws are intact. If the head of the screws are worn and the screwdriver is not catching, try using a piece of paper or puddy between the driver and the screw. This might help the driver catch the screw and tighten it properly.
Check to see that the driver you are using is the same shape and size as the screw. If the driver is fitting properly with the screw and it will not tighten, you may have to replace the screw or make a repair on the frame of the laptop.
Screen is frozen
When scrolling the screen will jump or stutter.
Hybrid Graphics enabled
Try turning off the hybrid graphics setting on the laptop. If this doesn’t work, or you would like to use the laptop with hybrid graphics enabled try the next step.
While the laptop is connected to the docking station, reboot the system. This should fix the problem regardless of whether or not hybrid graphics are enabled.
Audio isn’t playing
Headphones only work if the jack is tilted one way, or emits no sound.
Take your headphones and plug them into another device. Play a video or music on the device. If you can hear sound, then the problem is with your original device and not your headphones.
Dirty audio port
Examine the audio port on your device. This is the port that you plug your headphones into. Clean out any debris that may be blocking the connection. You can do this by blowing air into it, or swabbing it with a cue tip. If this doesn't work, move to step three.
Incorrect default setting
Click on the sound icon in the bottom right corner of your screen, and select “Open Sound settings”. Click on the section that says “choose your output device”, and be sure that the correct device is selected. Scroll down and select “App volume and device preferences”. Be sure that all applications or not muted and have the correct input and outputs selected.
Sound driver installed
Use the “Windows Key + X” combo to open a window, and then select device manager. Select “Sound, video and game controllers” option, click on the audio device, and then uninstall. Restart your computer, Windows will attempt to reinstall your driver.
Sound driver out-of-date
Return to the “Sound, video and game controllers” option, as in the previous step. Select your audio device and click on “Update driver”. A window will open up, and then select “Search automatically for updated driver software.” Next, restart your computer.
Laptop isn’t turning on
The computer does not power on, despite being connected to power.
Remove and reseat the battery to be sure it is properly connected. Look at the battery status indicator. This is typically illuminated whenever the battery is battery is installed and the computer is on, or charging. The indicator will either be blinking or solid in green or orange depending on the status. Verify the condition by using the Power Manager. If Power Manager is not installed, it can be installed from Lenovo’s support site under downloads.
Check all power connections and connect the computer charger directly to the wall, without the use of a power strip or surge protector. Inspect your plug for any physical damage or corrosion, and ensure that all wires are intact and firmly connected. Check that the wall outlet is functional by connecting another device to it. Then remove the battery and wait 30 seconds before reseating it. Retry plugging your device into the wall and powering up.
