Overheating
The phone shuts off, doesn’t unlock, or displays a notification that overheating is occurring.
Overcharging
If a charger is plugged into the phone for an excessive amount of time, it can overheat. To fix this, unplug the phone after it has fully charged. Also, if a charging cord is used that was not the one provided, that can also lead to overheating while charging. To fix this, use the charging cord provided.
Environment Temperature is Too Hot
Overheating symptoms can be caused by direct sunlight, a hot outside temperature, and the temperature exceeds past the recommended temperature range. To fix this, remove the phone from direct sunlight and close all apps.
Short Battery Life
The battery does not hold its charge or fails to charge.
Faulty Charger Cable/Adapter
The phone will not charge if the charger cable/ adapter fails to work. To ensure the charger fails to work, test it on other compatible devices. If the device fails to charge, consider buying a new charger/adapter.
Faulty Charging Port
The phone will not charge if the charging port is dirty. Confirm that the charging port is clean i.e. there are no dust particles. If there are any misaligned parts in the charging port, use the spudger to align it.

If the phone runs out of battery very quickly, the battery may have become faulty. This is a common issue with old batteries. See our guide for replacing the battery here.

Wi-Fi Network is not Selected
The phone has not been connected to a Wi-Fi network. When Wi-Fi is on, the Wi-Fi in-range indicator will appear in the status bar. Go into Settings>Network & Internet> Wi-Fi switch on, touch Wi-Fi to see available networks. Select a Wi-Fi network to connect to.

Faulty Cellular Provider
If the first 2 steps do not work, contact your cellular provider since the issue may be on their end.

Does anyone know where the microphone is located on this phone. I'm thinking it needs to be replaced.

You may first want to check if the filter in front of the mic is full of "pocket-dust".
I had that issue. My voice was chopped if I spoke quietly, but I could be heard and understood clearly, if I raised my voice. Like if a squelch function is present. This was fixed by gently, under a strong looking glass, removing the dust with a very thin needle, without severing the filter. Like scraping the dust off. The mic is a little to the left under the "M" in Motorola, near the charger input.
