Background and Identification
The LED Cinema Display is a monitor designed by Apple. The 24-inch version (here’s a link to that page) was released in 2008 but was soon replaced by the 27-inch model in July 2010. The 27” LED Cinema Display (model number A1316) features a glossy 2650x1440 pixel screen with a density of 109 pixels per inch. It has a built-in iSight camera above the screen, a microphone, and a stereo speaker system.
The body of the display is held up by a curved aluminum stand. The sides and back of the device are also made of aluminum, but the front side is made from a pane of glass covering the screen. On the back there are three USB 2.0 ports for peripherals like a mouse, keyboard, or flash drive. The back of the device also has an AC power cable and a combination cable that splits off at the end to a MagSafe charging cable, a Mini DisplayPort cable, and a USB 2.0 cable. While this display was designed to be used with a MacBook laptop—the MagSafe cable can charge any MacBook of the era—the screen can be driven by any computer with a Mini DisplayPort output or with a Mini DisplayPort adapter. The USB ports on the back will only work if the USB cable is connected to the computer as well.
You can identify the LED Cinema Display by looking for the serial number printed on the bottom of the stand. Enter those digits into Apple’s check warranty page to find the exact model of your display.
