A troubleshooting guide for solving common problems with the Galaxy Tab S 10.5.
- The screen does not respond

The screen does not respond ¶
The screen is on, but the touch screen is not responding.
The device needs to be restarted ¶
If the screen is on and will not respond to any functions, it may be frozen and needs to be restarted. Hold down the power button for about 10 seconds until the screen goes off. Then press the power button to turn the device on.
The power button is not responding ¶
Sometimes holding down the power button for 10 seconds will not power off the device. If this happens try holding the “Volume Down” button along with the power button. Wait 10 seconds and the screen should power off. Press the power button again to turn the device on.
The digitizer is damaged ¶
The digitizer may need to be replaced.
The battery drains rapidly ¶
The battery is drained out after moderate use
The applications running and the settings are draining the battery ¶
Apps running in the background can drain the battery fast. Make sure to close all apps and games when not using the tablet. Turn off wi-fi and GPS when the tablet is not in use or near a internet source, as the phone will waste energy searching for wi-fi and location. Decreasing the brightness can also help to save energy.
The battery is defective ¶
If closing the apps and changing the settings of the tablet do not work then the battery might be defective. Replace the old battery using the guide.
The home button doesn’t work ¶
The home button won't respond or isn’t there.
The device needs rebooting ¶
If the button does not respond, you might need to reboot your phone. If this does not work, you’ll need to replace the button.
Something’s holding the button up ¶
When button can't be pressed, there may be something below it holding it up. To fix this, remove the button and make sure nothing is stuck below it. Check this guide to remove the button. You may need to wipe off the area underneath. Once it is sufficiently clean, snap the key back into position. If it still doesn’t work, you’ll need a replacement.
The button is missing ¶
If home button is missing, replace it.
The device will not charge ¶
Even when plugged in, the device will not charge
The battery is defective ¶
The battery of the device may be defective, not drawing enough voltage to pass a certain limiting threshold. Once below the threshold, the device won’t draw power to the battery at all. Try to either recharge the batteries as shown in this video for a temporary solution, or for a more viable and more permanent solution, attempt to replace the battery.
The is debris in the charger port ¶
There may be debris in the charger port. Use a toothpick, paper clip, or other small utensil to scrape out any build up in the actual port.
Faulty charge port ¶
If the charge port is faulty, it will need to be replace. use this guide to replace it.
The camera does not work ¶
The camera app does not work or it shows only black.
The software is corrupted ¶
The camera application might be corrupted. Try downloading a different camera application from the play store. Another solution to the problem is to save all of the data and return the tablet to factory settings.
The camera is defective ¶
If none of this works, the camera might be broken. In that case, replace the camera with this guide
