Computer will not connect to Wi-Fi
The laptop does not connect to any networks listed.
Faulty Wi-Fi Router
Ensure that your wireless network is working properly and active by checking the cable connection and router configuration. Check to see if you can access your wireless network with another device and that the wireless icon in the notification area is visible.
Wi-Fi Adapter Installed Incorrectly
If you are unable to see the wireless connection, there is a possibility the adapter is not installed properly or it is disabled in the BIOS. Try entering the BIOS and enabling the Wireless LAN; then, go to https://support.lenovo.com and download the most recent wireless LAN drivers for your PC model.
The webcam does not show any image when turned on
The webcam shows a black screen when the camera app is opened.
Protective Seal Covering Camera
Make sure you have removed the protective seal that covers the camera lens.
Privacy Settings Blocking Camera Access
Allow access to camera within privacy settings:
In Windows 11:
Click on the windows “start” icon at the bottom left of your computer screen. Then click on settings. In settings, select privacy & security and scroll down until you see “camera” under App permissions. Click the slider next to camera access so it reads on and click the slider next to let apps access your camera so this also is on.
In Windows 10:
Open settings, and select privacy. Next, select camera. Click the slider under allow apps to access your camera so that it is on.
Camera Being Used By Other Applications
Make sure another application isn’t already using the camera:
If the camera indicator light is on. An error message like “Close all apps” may be an indicator that another app is using the camera. To find which apps are using the camera, open settings. Then, select privacy and next, camera. Scroll down on the right. Here you may see applications listed. Close these applications.
Camera Not Enabled
First try to turn on your camera by trying to press the function key.
Look for a key labeled “F8” in the middle of the top row of keys on your computer's keyboard. This key should have an icon of a camera with a slash through it. Try pressing the F8 key, and try pressing both the key “Fn” key and this F8 key at the same time. If this is unsuccessful try the steps below.
Check in device manager that the camera is enabled and is recognized correctly:
Type “device manager” into the search bar on the bottom left of your computers screen. Click on device manager and then click on cameras, imaging devices, ******or sound, video and game controllers and find the camera. If there is no camera or imaging device, you may have no camera configured, or a camera hardware failure. If this is the case, select the action menu, then select scan for hardware changes. If you see a yellow exclamation mark, go to https://support.lenovo.com and search the “Lenovo V14-ADA” and open the corresponding product page. Next, navigate to driver and software tab and search for camera. Finally, download and install the right camera driver.
Antivirus Settings Blocking Camera Access
If you have any antivirus software downloaded, check to see if any of its settings are blocking access to the camera
Keyboard Keys and touchpad are not responding
The laptop’s keyboard and touchpad do not function when used.
Delayed Touchpad Response
If the touchpad response on your Lenovo Laptop is very slow or inconsistent, you can try adjusting the touchpad sensitivity and speed.
In Windows 10, open the touchpad settings by typing "touchpad" in the search box. Click on Touchpad settings. Increase the touchpad sensitivity using the drop-down list. If you are using a precision touchpad, there is also a slider to adjust the cursor speed.
If your touchpad is not a precision touchpad, access the additional settings to adjust the pointer speed. Click Additional Settings and then Settings or Advanced Settings.
In Windows 7, search for "touchpad" and click Mouse properties. Click Settings or Advanced Settings. Now click on the Advanced tab. The Sensitivity slider lets you adjust how sensitive the touchpad is to your finger taps and movements. Slide towards “Light Touch” to increase the sensitivity.
If the touchpad is completely unresponsive then, first select the Windows logo key and I (capital i) at the same time. Another option is to use Windows key and S at the same time. Then, type “touchpad”. Next, select the Turn the touchpad on or off option (use the arrow key to move down the list and Enter to select). Make sure the touchpad is set to On. Use the Tab key to select the Touchpad option. Use the Spacebar key to toggle the option.
Keys Are Stuck In Place
When keys can't be pressed, there may be something below the physical key holding it up. To fix this, remove the key using this guide and make sure nothing is stuck below it. You may need to wipe off the area underneath. Once it is cleaned properly, snap the key back into position.
Faulty Keyboard and Touchpad
If your keyboard and touchpad are completely unresponsive and faulty, they may need to be replaced.
Poor battery life
When the laptop is charging the battery does not fully charge and will drain quickly when unplugged.
Damaged Power Adapter and Cable
Ensure that the power adapter and cable are in good condition and free from any visible damage. Frayed wired or faulty adapters may interfere with the laptop charging. Additionally, examine the charging port of the laptop for any direct or debris that can affect secure connection.
Inaccurate Battery Charge
Overtime, a laptop’s battery may lose its accuracy when attempting to report its remaining charge. You may need to recalibrate the battery.
Unnecessary Applications Draining Battery
Ensure your laptop is running the latest BIOS by taking a look at Lenovo’s website. Then, identify any installed software or updates that may be causing the battery to drain. Applications such as Windows Task Manager can help examine and identify any resources that are draining the laptop’s battery and longevity.
Faulty Battery
If all troubleshooting steps provide no success, try replacing the laptop’s battery to make the device work like brand new with this guide.
Abnormal pixel display
The laptop’s screen displays dead pixels when turned on.
Faulty LCD Panel
Dead pixels on a screen are often displayed as small black or white dots that can be caused by manufacturing defects or physical damage. If you are noticing these dead pixels, try replacing the LCD panel using this guide to replace the screen.
