Kobo Glo E-reader USB Port Replacement

Zu Schritt 1 der AnleitungThis manual is for repairing the USB port of your e-reader. It can be used for any type of e-reader, but some steps will be slightly different. This example uses the Kobo Glo HD. An iFixit set was used for this repair, together with a soldering station that enlarges the image under a camera. This is recommended because the parts are very small.

Make sure to store the screws somewhere you won't loose them, like on your FixMat.

All you have to do is lift the black locking arm that is keeping the ribbon cable in place. See picture.

Check the voltage of all six pins: if a pin shows no voltage level this probably means the pin is loose.

Use as much flux as possible (i.e. with the use of a flux marker).

A magnifying camera makes the job a lot easier.

Make sure that the pins are not touching each other.

Make sure that the e-reader functions properly before completely reassembling and closing it.

Hello guys, two of the pins on my reader are broken and I can't find the exact micro usb b model to buy the replacement.
Do you recommend a website to get it from?
