You might be surprised the issue is not the device but the frequency it is using. Many of the newer WiFi devices offer both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz support. I bet you yours is using 5GHz which offers better throughput but does not travel as far or though walls as well as the slower 2.4 GHz bands.
What to do??
If you want the better throughput you'll need to get closer to your access point (AP). Or look at upgrading your AP device to a mesh setup which offers multiple AP's around your house.
