@lmrdwr823 coomon issue with digital cameras. Check for some suggestions [http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/fixing-lens-error-on-digital-camera.html|on here]. If those do not help you may have to consider replacing the lens. Nikon does not like to part with their service manuals or parts list so this may be the easiest way.
