Replacing HD for SSD

Original-Beitrag von::

Hey - I’m looking at replacing the 1TB HD in my EMC2638/A1418 iMac (i7) with a faster SSD. I have openend up loads of iMacs for various reasons so I know how hard it is and how careful you need to be.

I have recently replaced the HDs in a few Mac Book Pros and I used Hynix SL300/SL308 500GB for this and they have been great. I plan to put the same drive into the iMac however I am unsure if I will need a temperature sensor? I did not need one for the mac Book Pros (fans run normally) - do i definitely need one for the imac? also do i need to setup TRIM? I seem to recall reading somewhere that the Hynix drive doesn’t need it. Thanks!
