its usually a clock spring/spiral cable issue which can be as simple as the connection/harness coming loose needing to be "plugged" back in (reconnected) or it could be a single wire in different bundles of wires broke. Note you have to be comfortable taking the steering wheel column apart and be extremely careful/mindful that you disconnect the airbag first thing and do not short it … then set it down with the outward face (the side you see when driving) face up away from where you are working and out of the sun. In case it were to go off that limits the shrapnel that it could send flying… remember it is nissan we are dealing with here. Youtube can show any handy person how to do it.. its a 30 minute job max. you need a security star bit or you can make one using a drill (or possibly even printing one with the right filament) but harbor freight gets you a set for like 10 bucks.
