After looking to see if grit or dirt is impeding its function, you may have corrosion and/or dust on the ribbon connectors and retaining clips.The camera must be partially disassembled in order to clean off the ribbon connectors and retaining clips. See the troubleshooting page.

The menu button may not be centered. If this is the case, then all of the selections will have difficulty being selected. The menu button must be removed and reattached centered in order to correct this.

If you are getting a lens error, it could be one of four things. There is dirt in the connection between the gears of the lens that needs to be cleaned out, the focusing motor is inoperable and needs to be replaced, the lens extension gears have been damaged and need to be repaired/or replaced, or the lens was previously obstructed from extending by an external source and needs to be cycled off and on.
