Introduction
Hi!
My name is Pooja Mehta, and I am a 2nd year Biomedical Engineering major at UC Davis. I hope to work at a medical device company after I graduate, and I look forward to improving the patient experience through data analytics and better biomedical solutions!
Skills
My skillset ranges from engineering design to programming to client-centric projects. Having served in a variety of occupations including, dance instructor, behavior technician, and lab assistant, I have a well-rounded skillset that can be applied to almost any position.
My engineering skills include CAD (SolidWorks), MATLAB, waterfall design process, and extensive college coursework. I can program in a variety of languages including SQL for data-related application, HTML/CSS/JS for website development, and Python. Finally, my soft skills include collaboration, communication, and organization which are essential to every job.
Projects and Repair Experience
As a lab assistant, I help to design and manufacture products for biomedical applications, and I have worked in teams to design a shoe-tying aid for hemiplegic children. This helps me gain insight into the design intent and repair process. In my high school physics class, I also constructed a wooden bridge to withstand heavy weight and a car run by the spring in a mousetrap. I also have experience fixing small appliances and gadgets around the house.

Awards
I have currently been on the Dean's Honors List (Engineering) for 4 out of the last 5 quarters during my undergraduate journey. I have also received an award for Outstanding Achievement in Science by Sandia National Labs. Throughout high school, I received various awards at multiple Model United Nations conferences for my public speaking and delegation skills.
Hobbies
I enjoy hiking and I try to be outdoors in my free time. Fun fact: One of my goals is to visit all the National Parks in the US!
I have also been dancing for 10 years now, and I've been part of many competitive and recreational dance groups. It has been a really rewarding journey growing from a student to an instructor, and I will always be involved in a dance group wherever I end up!
