Thanks so much for these useful details. It is obviously a very old thread; however, I was glad to come across it as I decided to upgrade an old Airport to a bigger disk. It's definitely a bit fiddly, and good eyesight and light is needed. The tip regarding the small connectors is good and important, I would have probably damaged them not knowing they needed to be lifted forward.
