These instructions are for the 5th gen touch, the 7th gen touch has a small pull tab on the bottom-right that you can grab onto with tweezers, then pull slowly downward with your fingers until the adhesive all pulls out. The other pull tab is underneath the battery connector side and you'll have to desolder the batt and push the BMS packet down a bit and pull the tab out with tweezers first before using your fingers to slowly pull the adhesive out.
