To remove all of the old adhesive, I used 91 IPA with the included dropped and let it soak for a minute, using only as much as I needed. Then I carefully used a paper towel and wiped the excess adhesive away. I repeated this 2-3 times until the surface was clean and smooth.

All three tabs broke immediately for me. Take your time with the pick, using a sawing and poking motion as described and never cross the threshold of the grip sensor cable. If you're struggling in removing the adhesive, I had great success with using the IPA dropper with high concentrate isopropyl alcohol, applying a few drops, waiting a minute, trying the pick, and repeating.
