Can't hear notification alerts

You can't hear the alert sounds for texts/emails/notifications.

Alert slide in off setting

The toggle switch on the left side of the phone selects which category of notifications will have alert sounds. Slide the switch to the middle position for priority only notifications and to the top position to hear alarms for all notifications.

Notification alerts turned off in settings

If the toggle switch does not appear to change the amount of notifications with alarms, go into the phone's settings and select the desired alarm response for each kind of notification.

Distorted or no audio

It's difficult for you to hear audio from the phone, or the sound is still distorded.

Volume is turned off

Check to ensure that your volume is turned up.

Faulty speaker

If you still cannot hear sound after you have adjusted the volume, you may need to replace the speakers.

Overheating

The outside of the phone feels hot.

Too many apps open

It's common for smartphones to heat up when there are multiple apps open, so turning off any apps running in the background should help to keep the temperature of the phone down.

Phone won't charge

Battery does not gain charge when plugged in to charger.

Dirty/blocked charging port

Make sure that the charging port is clean and free of obstructions.

Damaged battery

The battery may be damaged, which is why it refuses to hold a charge. Remove the battery from the phone and look for cracks, swelling, and corrosion of the battery case. If it appears to be damaged, replace the faulty battery with a new one. For replacing the battery, follow the guide here.

Damaged charging port

If the battery is undamaged and the phone is still unable to hold a charge, you'll have to go in and replace the charging port.

Screen is cracked

There is a visible crack in the screen of the phone.

Cracked glass

Try not to panic and turn on your phone to see if it operates normally. If you're lucky, the glass of the screen is cracked but the LCD panel behind it works fine. You'll have a big, ugly crack on the face of your phone, but you'll still be able to use it as per usual.

Cracked LCD

If you can't get the phone to work after the screen is cracked, you'll have to replace the screen itself.

Pictures are blurry

Your photos are not clear.

Dust on the lense

Check to make sure that the lense of the camera that you are using is clean.

Cracked lense

If you are able to see a visible crack in the lense of the camera, you will have to replace the camera itself.

Random Reboots

Phone reboots without user initialization

Software Update Needed

Updating to the most recent software is essential for most phones, unless there is a way to bypass the update. The update can be done by going into your phone’s settings, going to the “About Phone” page, and click or tap where it says to update the software. The screen will typically load for a moment before determining if the software is up to date or not. If not, it will prompt a download.

Complete Format of Device Needed

A complete format of the phone is sometimes needed, which means erasing all data and restoring the device to the original factory settings. Before doing this, ensure that all data has been stored onto another device, such as a laptop, or micro SD card if applicable. To reformat the device, go into settings, and at the bottom of all the sections is the option to backup and reset the device. Upon selecting this, another option titled “Factory Data Reset” will appear. Once this option had been selected, a page will display that explains that all storage will be erased. After this has been approved, the device will then have the user ensure that they are indeed deleting their data and information on the phone. Once confirmed, the device will reset completely.

Add Custom Software

In some cases, adding custom software to the device may be a viable solution. The best software that people have used is the Resurrection Remix Oreo. To download this software, save ROM and GApps in the phone’s internal memory. Once this is done, put the device into recovery mode, then take backup of the device. After that, wipe everything off the device. The last step is to install RR ROM, followed by GApps and nothing else. This allows the ROM installation process to go through, and let the phone sit on idle for 10 to 15 minutes. This solution will change the software, so if the original software from the factory is the issue, it will be resolved.

Phone calls do not display

Incoming phone calls are not shown on the screen, causing the phone call to be missed

Notifications turned off

The OnePlus 2 has the option to turn off notifications for the phone call app, which results in the phone call screen to not display. To check the notifications, go to the Settings, then App Notifications, and select Dialler, where you will deselect the option to turn off notifications.

Factory Restart

If the notifications are on and phone calls do not display on the OnePlus 2, a factory restart could solve the issue. The OnePlus 2 has this feature that will clear the device of all the cache and data, setting the phone with a fresh start. This should clear any bugs the device displayed and set the phone to operate as it was intended.

A factory restart can be done by following the instructions above for a complete format of the phone.

Flashlight turns on randomly

The flashlight will turn on without the user’s input

Gesture could be on

The OnePlus 2 has a gestures feature that when you do a certain movement or user input with your device, it will perform an action. This could be the source of the problem because the device may think that you are using the gesture input to turn on the flashlight, though you do not want the flashlight on. To turn off the gestures, go to Settings, then gestures, and disable the gesture that toggles the flashlight on.

Factory Restart

If the gestures are off and the flashlight still turns on without user input, a factory restart could solve the issue. The OnePlus 2 has this feature that will clear the device of all the cache and data, setting the phone with a fresh start. This should clear any bugs the device displayed and set the phone to operate as it was intended.

Continuous, Unresolved Issues

The phone is repeatedly having multiple issues, and other solutions have not worked.

Motherboard Replacement

If other attempts at solving the various issues that the device may be having do not work, such as the phone calls not displaying, or the software being faulty, replacing the motherboard may be necessary. Users may either replace the motherboard themselves, or pay to have someone else do it. To replace it themselves, users will need the replacement motherboard, the required tools, and the OnePlus 2 smartphone. Once these pieces of equipment are acquired, the user will need to find a suitable explanation video detailing instructions
