Hi,
Don't know whether it is a battery or a capacitor but essentially yes it does, but it is only used to store the date and time info. It is buried in the camera therefore it is not easy to replace. This is taken from the user manual (here is a link scroll to p.19 http://cdn-10.nikon-cdn.com/pdf/manuals/... )

Yes it does. It’s a button cell glued to the side of the battery box, lens side, under the grip.
