iPod dies immediatley after full charge

I have a 20 GB iPod A1040.

It charges fine and the battery was perfect until one day it just cut out! It charges fine on the dock and with the Mac but as soon as I unplug it and use it it dies! is it just a case of a new battery or something more?

Thanks for any help you can give.

Yeah you just need a new batter, you can get one here, and the repair guide is linked in there too. Good luck with your repair.
