Hello,
My name is Wesley Yates.
I am a first-year student attending Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach, FL working towards a Bachelors Degree in Aerospace Engineering with a focus in Astronautics.
My goal is to use this degree along with my Mechanical Engineering degree to secure a job designing spacecraft. Hopefully I will get to ride in them as well!
I have minimal experience in the aerospace field outside of the group project to design a liquid fuel rocket. Most of my experience is in the mechanical engineering field, specifically design and prototype analysis. The majority of this experience comes from working on a Skills USA Engineering Design and Development prototype. I have also had some real life applications of my machining skills working on truck rotors for one of my old community college professors.
I also have experience working in group and management situations. My most notable group project is the Skills USA project. I was assigned as the project manager for this team, we made it to second place in the state finals.
I learned quite a bit about time management during high school when I was dual enrolled in college taking 15 credit hours. At the time I worked at a Phase II Wendy’s training incoming managers. I also made it to Regionals in pole vault during that time.
During this IFixIt project I intend to further develop my skills in technical writing and project managing. This will be my first publication and I intend to add it to my resume experience upon the successful completion of the project.
