Hello everyone! My name is Kirsten, and I am a student of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. I am currently in my junior year and as I have always been fascinated with the sky and machines, I consequently choose to major in Aerospace Engineering. I am aiming to join the United States Air Force upon graduation and am a member of my school’s Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps Detachment.

I enjoy working with my father to maintain and repair issues with my 2011 Volkswagen Jetta and hope to later gain some experience with other models of vehicles. I love to tear apart small and broken devices to see how the parts fit together and am currently troubleshooting a microwave and a Roomba.

When I am not studying, I enjoy building models, hiking, tinkering, and researching. I have a small personal library I have collected since middle school which fuels many of my ideas for both projects and research. I have made a goal to learn more on Philosophy and Theology this year and hope to read through all the pertinent books in my possession by the end of March.

Prior to this year, I had never heard of iFixit before. Learning about this organization was amazing as I strongly believe that the more small things someone can fix on their own the better. I look forward to writing, editing, and improving my ability to repair!

Some last fun facts about me:

  • I eat tomatoes the same way you would normally eat an apple (they are so good!)
  • I love tea, and will choose it over coffee anytime
  • I love stargazing and learning the various mythos associated with the constellations
