If you are trying to fix a jumpy scroll wheel, you should also clean the encoder. This is the round piece component that the scroll wheel is inserted into. To do this, you can pry open the four metal fingers, bend back the metal backing, and then the encoder ring will come right off. In my case a hair fell out, but I also cleaned with some isopropyl alcohol which picked up some grime.
I followed this tutorial for a Razer Deathadder Essential, so that I could fix a jumpy scroll wheel. To remove the scroll wheel, I had to remove the two screws that held the board into the mouse housing. This allows you to lift the board up and out of the black frame pieces that hold the scroll wheel in place.
The lid of my Cricut maker 3 was removable by pulling upwards, while the lid was still open. It slides right off. The prying approach as described in this step is unnecessary, and could break the attachment points if forced.
